The men that appear in the foreground are the program’s eldest members. Their careers spanned from mid-1920’s through mid-1940’s. Their effort in the early days of the Negro Leagues established a venue to which younger men of color could aspire. Rickwood Field (in the background) is the oldest active ball field in America, located in Birmingham, Alabama. This field was a “Field of Dreams” for many men whose dreams of playing professional baseball were fulfilled by reaching the roster of the segregated ball clubs that played here. The rest of the team fills the skyline behind - each of whom shares a significant role in the Negro Leagues monumental effort to Strike Out Jim Crow and integrate Major League Baseball.
